A romantic adventure through the enchanted forest, across the rolling hills, down the creek, and to the hidden sugar house. This styled elopement shoot has all of the stunning nature vibes and inspiration if you're wanting to add a little adventure to your wedding day photos.
The Inspiration:
Our inspiration for this shoot came from the hundreds of acres of land at the Dunham Homestead. With everything from rolling farmland, misty fern covered forests, babbling brooks to a historical sugar house nestled into the wood-line, the possibilities are truly endless. Our goal was to showcase the natural beauty of the land and go on an adventure. Taking wedding photos can be a little awkward and tense so we thought, let's keep it very simple, romantic, and make it fun!
Mallory & Jake are a real couple and are engaged to be married next year. You can just feel their love through these photos. We knew right away that they would be the most perfect models for this shoot!
Choosing the Vendors:
For this shoot, we wanted to focus on vendors (and models) that are local to Hamilton, NY. One of our main missions since day one has been to spotlight our community and fellow small businesses. Hamilton has so much to offer including nearly every vendor you need to host an unforgettable wedding at the Heritage Barn!
We can't forget about Kimba! Kimba is a husky-wolf dog that belongs to a mutual friend of all of ours, Coral. Kimba was an amazing model and really added that mystical touch!
The Woman Behind the Camera:
Hannah Frederick Photography is a dear friend who does amazing work! Our visions aligned so well and we knew she was the perfect person to showcase this side of the Heritage Barn and Dunham Homestead property.
Hannah introduced us to the model bride and her beau, who actually really wanted Hannah to be their wedding photographer. Unfortunately, Hannah is booked for their date.. but now they have some amazing photos by her. It worked out perfectly!
Florals & Styling:
This shoot is the debut of our new addition to the Heritage Barn, Silo Flower Co. We are thrilled to now offer florals for weddings and events on-site. Bouquets, arrangements, you name it! We are so excited to be able to adorn the barn with gorgeous flowers! For the Sugar House Elopement our focus was on pulling in the seasonal beauty of fall foliage along with locally grown stunners like cosmos and dahlias. For all our floral design, we like to keep the structure loose and organic with textural details and soft, flowing ribbon.
Elopement Ceremony:
A simple sash through the big sugar maple tree makes a stunning statement for the ceremony decor. We paired a vintage rug with some floral arrangements to create a cozy and festive backdrop for the I-dos!
Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice:
After Hannah Frederick Photography flawlessly captured the magic hour beauty of this stunning couple outdoors, we cozied up back at the barn for some dessert and dancing. The scrumptious caramel popcorn cake, truffles and treats were provided by none other than the talented Maxwells Chocolates and the cinnamon sugar donut delights are from one of our favorite bakeries in town, Flour & Salt.
The Beauty Team:
The bride’s ceremony dress was provided by Circa Bridal Boutique, hair was done by Katelynne LaMunion and makeup was done by Kayleigh Mittelstaedt. During the adventure through the woods, the bride was wearing gemstone jewelry by Mindsigh Minerals. All the small details came together to create the most beautiful, natural, bohemian couple we’ve ever seen!
A cool little side note...Mallory ended up finding her dream dress at Circa when we were browsing for this shoot and Katelynne is doing her hair for the big day so this was the perfect practice run for the couple's actual wedding day!
